MCP setup guide

Use EnergyNetWatch MCP With Claude Desktop

Configure Claude Desktop to call EnergyNetWatch MCP tools through a local server and environment-based credentials.

1

Create an EnergyNetWatch key

Use the authenticated API Access screen and keep the key out of prompts, screenshots, and shared files.

2

Install or download the MCP package

Use the package path shown in the API Access screen. Do not install untrusted packages using a production API key.

3

Generate Claude Desktop config

Run the package config helper for Claude Desktop and review the server command and environment variables.

4

Add the server block

Place the generated server block in the local Claude Desktop MCP configuration file.

5

Restart and test

Restart Claude Desktop and ask a narrow data availability question before running broader research.

Safe first question

“Use EnergyNetWatch to check data availability for one operator in TX. Preserve source and coverage caveats and do not reveal credentials.”
