MCP setup guide

Use EnergyNetWatch MCP With Cursor

Configure Cursor to use EnergyNetWatch oil and gas data tools while keeping API credentials out of prompts, project files, and screenshots.

1

Create scoped access

Create an EnergyNetWatch API key from the authenticated API Access screen.

2

Install package path

Use the MCP package or local server path shown in the API Access instructions.

3

Generate Cursor config

Run the package config helper for Cursor and inspect the server command before adding it.

4

Set local environment

Store ENERGYNETWATCH_API_KEY in Cursor MCP environment configuration or local secret input, not in project code.

5

Test in a clean workspace

Ask Cursor for a narrow data availability or operator lookup so the tool path is easy to inspect.

Clean-workspace smoke test

Ask Cursor to create a small markdown report from one operator lookup. Confirm no key appears in files, terminal output, or the generated report.
